EuroShield provides independent engineering advisory to owners, developers, investors, and lenders across the delivery lifecycle of industrial capital projects. We are engaged as Owner’s Engineer, Independent Technical Advisor, or Lender’s Engineer — on the owner’s or financier’s side of the table — across feasibility, Front-End Engineering Design (FEED), procurement strategy, contract structuring (FIDIC and national equivalents), construction oversight, commissioning, and operational readiness.
Industrial capital projects fail for a narrow set of recurring reasons, and very few of them are technical surprises. Scope is under-defined at the contracting gate. FEED accuracy is over-claimed. HAZOP actions are logged but not closed. Contract schedules, payment milestones, and change-order mechanisms are drafted by lawyers without engineering input. Commissioning is compressed to recover programme slippage. The operator inherits a plant that was accepted, not proven. These failure patterns are visible in the documentation before the first concrete is poured — if someone on the owner’s side is reading for them.
Our engagements are designed around that reading. We do not bid on EPC packages, do not act as main contractor, do not hold equity in delivery consortia, and do not carry reseller commissions on equipment. Our sole commercial relationship is with the owner or the financier. Findings protect that party’s position in the contract, the schedule, the commissioning file, and the operating regime that follows.
Work is aligned to FIDIC Red, Yellow, Silver, Gold, Green, and Emerald Books and their regional equivalents (NEC4, ENAA, national public-works frameworks), IEC 61882 (HAZOP), IEC 61511 (functional safety for process industries), IEC 61508 (general functional safety), ISO 14224 (reliability and maintenance data), ISO 55000 (asset management), ISO 17776 (risk), API RP 580/581 (risk-based inspection), API 14C (offshore safety systems), ASME and EN construction codes as site-relevant, and IEC 62443 where operational technology is integrated at design stage.
Independent, owner- or financier-engaged, by commercial structure. We sit on one side of the contract, not on both.
Project Types We Cover
Energy transition and decarbonisation — electrification of heat, hydrogen, CCUS, biomethane, synthetic fuels, green ammonia, HVO and SAF production
Power generation, grid and storage — CCGT, nuclear-adjacent balance-of-plant, renewable generation, BESS, grid-interconnection, flexibility platforms
Oil, gas, LNG and petrochemical — upstream, midstream, downstream, LNG regasification and liquefaction, petrochemical FEED and revamp
Chemicals, specialty and pharma — fine chemicals, API, biologics, sterile and GMP-regulated fill-finish
Metals, minerals and industrial materials — steel, aluminium, battery-materials, rare-earth processing, cement decarbonisation
Water, wastewater and desalination — municipal and industrial water, reuse, SWRO desalination, process-water treatment
Transport and mobility infrastructure — EV charging at scale, hydrogen refuelling, rail electrification, port electrification
Industrial real estate and giga-projects — battery gigafactories, semiconductor fabs, sovereign industrial programmes
Refurbishment, revamp, debottlenecking and life-extension — often where the highest-ROI engineering advisory is delivered
Feasibility, Concept & Pre-FEED
- Project-definition readiness review: scope, envelope, site constraints, regulatory boundary, commercial hypothesis
- Technology-selection advisory, vendor-neutral, across process, mechanical, electrical, and control disciplines
- Pre-FEED engineering: mass and energy balances, block-flow architecture, site layout studies, high-level capex estimation
- Permit and consent strategy; early stakeholder, regulator, and community-engagement mapping
- Climate-risk and site-condition assessment; water, grid, and logistics constraint mapping
- Decarbonisation-pathway feasibility where the project is an energy-transition or emissions-reduction programme
- Investment-grade feasibility report suitable for shareholder approval, FID preparation, or financing solicitation
Front-End Engineering Design (FEED)
- FEED contractor selection, scope-of-work drafting, and technical-proposal evaluation
- FEED-phase engineering oversight: PFDs, P&IDs, heat and material balances, equipment lists, instrument index, electrical single-line diagrams, cause-and-effect matrices
- FEED quality review against independent benchmarks: accuracy bounds, scope completeness, interface clarity, constructability
- Plot-plan and layout review: spacing, hazardous-area classification, maintenance access, future-expansion provision
- Hazardous-area classification (IEC 60079 / NEC / ATEX) review
- Capex estimation independent review (AACE Class 3 to Class 2 validation)
- Schedule realism review — construction sequencing, critical-path assumptions, commissioning allowance
Process Safety & HAZOP
- HAZOP facilitation and chair: IEC 61882-compliant, senior-led, independently documented
- LOPA (Layer of Protection Analysis) and Safety Integrity Level (SIL) determination
- SIL verification aligned with IEC 61511 for process industries, IEC 61508 for general functional safety
- HAZID, What-If analysis, FMEA, and bowtie-analysis facilitation as the project phase warrants
- Inherent safety review — the discipline most programmes underinvest in, at FEED stage where it is cheapest to act
- Alarm rationalisation and management-of-alarms review against IEC 62682 / ISA 18.2
- Cyber-safety interaction analysis — where OT cybersecurity intersects with functional safety
- Action-tracking discipline: HAZOP actions logged, assigned, tracked, and closed
- Pre-start-up safety review (PSSR) and operational-readiness safety gates
Detailed Engineering Oversight
- EPC contractor's detailed-engineering quality review against FEED and contractual specification
- Interface management: between disciplines; between contractor packages; between owner-furnished and contractor-supplied scope
- Design-change management and contract-change-order review from the owner's side
- Vendor-document review and vendor-print approval from the owner's position
- Engineering hold-points and owner-approval gates — specified, enforced, and documented
