EuroShield advises data center developers, operators, investors, and hyperscale tenants on sustainability strategy, energy and water metrics, carbon accounting, and heat-reuse feasibility. We are engaged as Owner’s Engineer — on the owner’s side of the table — across feasibility, design, procurement, commissioning, and operational reporting.

Sustainability has moved from a marketing annex to a regulated obligation. In the EU alone, the combination of the Energy Efficiency Directive (EU 2023/1791) Article 12 reporting for data centers above 500 kW, the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) with ESRS disclosures, the EU Taxonomy technical screening criteria, and the Delegated Regulation on data center sustainability indicators has turned PUE, WUE, CUE, ERE, ERF, and renewable-energy factor from operator KPIs into audited disclosures. The reporting is regulated; the measurement methodology is not optional; and the greenwashing risk for under-engineered claims has become a board-level concern.

Work is aligned to EN 50600-4 series (PUE, REF, CUE, ITEEsv, ITEUsv, WUE, ERE, ERF), ISO/IEC 30134 series (harmonised KPI definitions), EU EED Article 12 and the associated Delegated Regulation on DC sustainability indicators, the EU Code of Conduct for Data Centre Energy Efficiency, Climate Neutral Data Centre Pact commitments, CSRD / ESRS E1 (climate change) and E3 (water), EU Taxonomy DNSH criteria, GHG Protocol Scopes 1/2/3 for DC operations, and the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) methodology where applicable. Where heat-reuse offtakes are in scope, work additionally aligns to district-heating regulatory frameworks (DE AVBFernwärmeV, CH Energiegesetz, FR Code de l’énergie, and equivalents).
Vendor-neutral, by commercial structure. We do not resell metering, DCIM, sustainability software, or carbon-offset instruments. Platform evaluation — Schneider EcoStruxure Resource Advisor, Siemens Navigator, ABB Ability, Sulzer Sense, Watershed, Persefoni, Sweep, Cority, and adjacent — is conducted against the owner’s reporting obligations and data architecture, not against a partner-programme margin.

Heat Reuse Feasibility & Offtake Engineering

Heat reuse is the single largest untapped sustainability lever on most AI builds. EuroShield structures heat-reuse work around realistic offtake economics — not against aspirational case studies.

Waste-heat availability characterisation: return-water temperature, flow, seasonal variability, and reliability under AI load variance

Offtake market analysis: district-heating networks, greenhouse agriculture, adjacent industrial processes, residential developments, swimming pools, aquaculture, or direct-use industrial offtakes

Temperature-lift strategy: heat-pump integration, secondary heat-exchange, and hydraulic interface design between DC secondary loop and offtake network

Regulatory and contractual structuring: long-term offtake agreements, pricing mechanisms (energy-content, avoided-cost, regulated tariff), and regulatory consent pathways

Integration with EU EED Article 26 (waste-heat utilisation obligations for new and refurbished DCs above 1 MW in EU jurisdictions) and the EU Taxonomy heat-reuse criteria

Economic feasibility: capex, opex, discount rates, regulated return, and sensitivity to offtake-network counterparty risk

Engineering integration: reserve-capacity strategy during AI load transients, failover architecture, and protection of DC thermal envelope against offtake-network faults
